Perugia was founded in Etruscan age and is one of the most beautiful cities of Umbria. Its centre is characterized by the many Etruscan remains and medieval buildings.
Perugia hosts a pictoresque chocolate festival in October of every year and many notable cultural events. It is birthplace of the painter Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci (1445-1523), well-known as Perugino, among whose disciples was Raphael.
